From Cruise Port: Akaroa-Christchurch
Departing from Akaroa, the first part of the tour is a picturesque 90 minute drive to Christchurch city - the largest city on New Zealand's South Island. See harbours, mountains, lakes and more on this scenic drive.
After a quick stop at the world famous Botanic Gardens, you will be taken on a short sightseeing trip of the rebuilding Christchurch CBD. The centre of the city was particularly hard hit in the earthquakes of 2010/11, however the city is starting to flourish once again.
See the historic ruins of the city's cathedrals, new developments such as the river precinct and hear how the city centre was almost completely destroyed after the quakes.
Leaving the city we head north to a working sheep farm on the Canterbury Plains. Here you will see how agriculture forms such a large part of the makeup of New Zealand.
See working sheep dogs, and take the chance to get up close to New Zealand's woolly icons. Learn how farming is done in New Zealand, and even see a shearing demonstration. Afternoon tea will be served at the farm.
Upon leaving the farm we head back to port, and will have you back at 4.30pm in plenty of time for your ships departure.
